About me
I take a lot of pleasure in learning, especially about maths and about people - how they think, feel, learn and so on. I love combining both of these interests in the way that I approach my work.
I have around 10 years of experience of teaching, working with people from the age of 4 up to and including adults, at all levels up to GCSE. I have tutored online and in person, in maths, the sciences and philosophy, as well as running maths and philosophy clubs. I now specialise in teaching maths online.
I enjoy learning about and being able to draw on different approaches to teaching, depending on what best suits my students. Iām particularly interested in the constructivist approach, mastery-based learning and visual/spatial approaches.
I have personal experience of many forms of neurodiversity, either directly or through the experiences of my close family and friends, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia and DCD.
Alongside teaching, I am currently working on an OU undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Its Learning, after previously having studied an unrelated subject (vet medicine) at university. I have also completed short courses with the British Dyslexia Association.
